Castle of the Undersea Devil Movie Review

Doraemon: Castle of the Undersea Devil is a colourful animated adventure that takes Doraemon, Nobita and their friends on an exciting journey deep beneath the ocean. Directed by Tetsuo Yajima, the movie is a modern remake of the 1983 Doraemon adventure and was released in Indian theatres on October 2, 2026, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, along with English. The runtime is approximately 1 hour 42 minutes.

The film combines adventure, comedy, fantasy, friendship and family entertainment. It brings back the familiar characters while giving the classic story a modern animation treatment.

Doraemon: Castle of the Undersea Devil Story

The story begins when Nobita, Doraemon, Shizuka, Gian and Suneo start discussing where they should spend their vacation. While the friends disagree between going to the mountains or the beach, Doraemon comes up with an unusual solution: an underwater camping trip.

Using Doraemon’s futuristic gadgets, the group travels beneath the ocean. What initially appears to be a fun holiday soon turns into a dangerous adventure.

During their journey, the friends encounter strange sea creatures and eventually discover the mysterious Mu Federation, an underwater civilisation hidden beneath the sea. They also meet El, a young soldier from the underwater world.

The situation becomes more serious when the legendary Castle of the Undersea Devil and its automated defence system, Poseidon, become a threat. Nobita and his friends must work together with the people of Mu to prevent a disaster that could affect the entire world.

Animation and Visuals

The underwater world is easily one of the movie’s biggest strengths. Colourful marine life, underwater cities, mysterious ruins, futuristic technology and large-scale action sequences give the film an impressive visual appearance.

The modern animation makes the classic Doraemon story feel fresh for a new generation while retaining the nostalgic elements that longtime fans expect.

The film also uses Doraemon’s familiar gadgets effectively, adding comedy and excitement to the adventure.

Performances and Voice Acting

The familiar characters remain the emotional centre of the film.

Nobita continues to be the nervous but kind-hearted character audiences know and love, while Doraemon provides both comic moments and emotional support. Shizuka, Gian and Suneo also contribute to the adventure.

The Indian dubbing performances have been generally well received. The Hindi voice cast includes Bhakti Jhaveri as Nobita, Ayushi Prakash as Doraemon, Aniket Khadye as Gian, Sanchit Wartak as Suneo and Parul Bhatnagar as Shizuka.

Friendship and Environmental Message

Beyond the fantasy adventure, the movie carries messages about friendship, courage, sacrifice and empathy.

The underwater civilisation is suspicious of humans because of the damage caused to marine life. This gives the film an environmental message without making it overly serious.

The relationship between Nobita and his friends remains one of the film’s strongest emotional elements. When danger arrives, the group puts aside their differences and works together.

Doraemon: Castle of the Undersea Devil Rating

Final Verdict

Doraemon: Castle of the Undersea Devil is a fun and colourful family entertainer that successfully combines nostalgia with modern animation. The underwater setting gives the movie a different visual identity, while Doraemon’s gadgets, comedy and the friendship between Nobita and his friends provide the familiar charm.

The movie works particularly well for children and longtime Doraemon fans. The emotional friendship story and environmental message also give it more substance than a simple animated adventure.

However, the story becomes somewhat complicated when the Mu Federation, Atlantis-related mythology and Poseidon’s threat take centre stage. Some portions could also have benefited from tighter editing.

Overall, the movie is a pleasant theatrical adventure for families, with colourful visuals, humour, friendship and plenty of Doraemon nostalgia.
