OM Chapter 1: Movie Update

OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood, the highly anticipated pan-Indian action thriller starring Dhanush and Mammootty, has received a major release-date update. The film, which was earlier scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 16, 2026, will now release worldwide on November 20, 2026. The makers announced the new date along with a striking poster featuring Dhanush and Mammootty.

OM Chapter 1 New Release Date

The film was initially planned for an October 16 release, just a day after Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. Dhanush had earlier announced that the team would postpone OM to avoid a major box-office clash. The movie has now officially locked November 20, 2026 as its worldwide theatrical release date.

The new release window also keeps the film away from the Diwali period, avoiding competition with Suriya’s Scene and other major releases.

Dhanush and Mammootty’s Powerful Combination

One of the biggest attractions of OM Chapter 1 is the combination of Dhanush and Mammootty. The movie marks their first major collaboration as the central stars of an action drama.

Mammootty’s character has already generated attention. He plays Burma Karthikeyan, a smuggler known as “Siya” by people and police. The character appears to have grey shades, making Mammootty’s role one of the key highlights of the movie.

Dhanush leads the film, while Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, Naseeruddin Shah, Indrans and others are also part of the cast.

What Is the Story of OM Chapter 1?

The makers have kept several major plot details under wraps, but the film is set against a forest backdrop and revolves around an intense action conflict.

Reports indicate that the story involves woodcutters, police forces, smuggling and a dangerous forest-based conflict. A man steps forward to protect innocent woodcutters after they are arrested, leading to a much larger confrontation. The presence of red-sandalwood trafficking and powerful criminal forces adds another layer to the story.

With the title The Blood Wood, the film is expected to explore a dark and intense world involving survival, power, betrayal and rebellion.

Director and Technical Team

OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood is written and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, who previously directed the successful film Amaran. The project brings him together with Dhanush for the first time.

The technical team includes Sai Abhyankkar as music composer, Ezhil Arasu K as cinematographer and R Kalaivanan as editor. Action choreography is handled by Yannick Ben and Kecha Khamphakdee, suggesting that the film will feature large-scale action sequences.

The film is produced by Dhanush, Shraddha Agrawal and Azmat Jagmag, with Wunderbar Films and R Take Studios backing the project.

Why OM Chapter 1 Is Highly Anticipated

The combination of Dhanush, Mammootty and Rajkumar Periasamy has created strong expectations. Dhanush brings his experience in intense character-driven performances, while Mammootty’s role as Burma Karthikeyan adds another major attraction.

The forest setting, action-oriented storyline and pan-Indian cast could make OM Chapter 1 an important theatrical release in November. The film is also planned as the first chapter of a larger franchise, increasing curiosity about how the story will develop.
