OTT Review: Panchanama – Telugu Crime Thriller Series

Panchanama is a Telugu crime investigation thriller series that is now streaming on ZEE5. Starring Bharath Srinivasan in the lead role, the six-episode series combines police investigation, mysterious deaths, forensic clues and a medical crime angle. Directed by Mohan Srivatsa, the series also features Shivaji Raja, Medha Reddy, Charan Babu, Rupa Lakshmi and others. It began streaming on September 11, 2026.

The series has an interesting central mystery: multiple people die under suspicious circumstances, and the investigation reveals an unusual connection between them. While the initial episodes create curiosity, the series struggles to maintain the same level of suspense throughout its six-episode run.

Panchanama Story

The story follows Jai Ram, a police officer who becomes personally involved in an investigation after the suspicious death of his younger brother, Aadi. Although the death initially appears to be an accident, Jai refuses to accept that explanation and starts looking for answers.

During the investigation, he discovers a shocking clue. Aadi’s fingerprints appear to match those of two other people who also died on the same day. This unusual connection turns the case into a much larger mystery.

As Jai follows one clue after another, he discovers links to a medical syndicate, illegal clinical trials and a network involved in suspicious deaths and disappearances. The investigation gradually moves from a personal case to a larger criminal conspiracy.

The mystery surrounding the deaths forms the main driving force of the series. Viewers are encouraged to follow Jai as he attempts to understand how the victims are connected and who is responsible for the crimes.

Performances

Bharath Srinivasan carries the series as Jai Ram. He maintains the serious attitude required for a police-investigation role and gives the character a focused presence. His performance works better during the investigation portions, where the character has to connect different clues and move the case forward.

Shivaji Raja, Medha Reddy, Charan Babu, Rupa Lakshmi and the other supporting actors provide adequate support. The performances generally suit the crime-thriller atmosphere.

Direction and Screenplay

Director Mohan Srivatsa starts the series with a promising mystery. The fingerprint connection and multiple deaths immediately create questions and encourage viewers to continue watching.

The first few episodes are reportedly the stronger portion of the series. The investigation progresses through individual clues, keeping the mystery alive. However, several reviews note that the screenplay loses some momentum during the later episodes. After the major mystery begins to become clearer, the suspense and impact reduce.

The medical-crime backdrop gives Panchanama an additional layer beyond a conventional police investigation. The series touches on illegal clinical trials and a medical syndicate, giving the story a darker dimension.

Technical Aspects

The background score by Naresh Kumaran helps establish the thriller mood, particularly during investigation sequences. Cinematographer Sandeep Kanth.N provides visuals that fit the crime-investigation setting.

The editing could have been sharper in places. A tighter screenplay and faster pacing in the final episodes might have made the mystery more engaging.

One positive aspect is the compact six-episode structure. The episodes range roughly from 20 to 31 minutes, allowing the series to complete its central investigation without becoming excessively long.

Is Panchanama Worth Watching?

If you enjoy Telugu crime thrillers, police investigations, forensic mysteries and medical-crime stories, Panchanama is worth considering. The opening mystery is strong enough to create curiosity, and the six-episode format makes it a relatively quick watch.

However, viewers looking for a consistently gripping thriller with major twists in every episode may find the series somewhat disappointing. Several reviews have pointed out that the momentum drops after the main mystery becomes clearer.

Panchanama Rating

The series gets credit for its interesting premise, engaging investigation in the initial episodes and decent lead performance. However, the predictable elements, weaker second half and less impactful climax prevent it from becoming a standout Telugu crime thriller.

Final Verdict

Panchanama is a reasonably watchable Telugu crime investigation series with a promising premise. The fingerprint mystery and suspicious deaths provide a strong starting point, while Bharath Srinivasan’s police-officer character gives the investigation a clear centre.

The series works best in its early episodes, where every clue raises new questions. Unfortunately, the screenplay does not maintain the same intensity until the end. The later episodes become more predictable, and the final revelation does not deliver the impact that the initial mystery promises.

Still, its short six-episode format, Telugu language, investigation-based storyline and medical-crime backdrop make it a decent option for OTT viewers looking for a quick thriller.

Overall, Panchanama is a one-time watch for crime-thriller fans, but viewers should keep their expectations moderate.

Panchanama Rating: 2.5/5
